As an organization linked to the Board of Multicultural Student Affairs (BMSA), the African-American Society wants to expand the platform for African-American students to all students of different ethnicities and nationalities to engage in thorough conversations about African-American history and modern day challenges for the African-American community. With the assistance of student programming through the BMSA, along with performances, fundraising events, and on-campus activities, the African-American society strives to create a safe, open-minded atmosphere to educate students on those who identify as Black, African-American, Afro-Latinx, and so forth. The PC Ceramx (ceramics) Collective aims to create a safe space for students of all backgrounds on the PC campus, where all voices are heard and appreciated. We want to encourage students to explore the medium of ceramics, and the important role it can play in their lives. Our discussions will revolve around the contemporary and historical practices of ceramics, important social issues and their influence on our art, and how students can develop their voice in the art community, among other topics. Our student members will critically reflect on and improve their art, and will create a body of work that consists of independent, long-term projects and shorter, whole-group projects.

The Providence College Finance Society provides an environment where students can apply what they have learned from past experience and what they have learned in the classroom in a structured forum. This society is meant to be all encompassing across the broad spectrum of interests within the financial services industry. Members will be exposed to speakers and companies in the industry, take an active role in the organization by way of weekly meetings, and will be given the chance to network with their peers and professionals. The ultimate goal of the PCFS is to promote a culture in which members are engaged with each other, the society, and the greater financial services industry. As of 2025, the Sigma & Swans Club and the Real Estate Club have been added as sections of the Finance Society for students who are interested in developing a better understanding of these segments of the finance industry. In addition, the Finance Society has launched the Student-Led Asset Management (SLAM) Program. SLAM allows students to learn, hands-on, in real time, about how to invest across different asset classes, including equities, fixed income, and alternatives.

FrEMS is an on campus club that serves as an EMS interest group for students and helps to educate the community on emergency response and basic first aid. FrEMS will host non-certification yielding CPR, Choking Alleviation, and Bleeding Control training with the goal of empowering community members to assist in emergency situations should they ever need to and to make the campus safer. FrEMS is open to both EMTs and non-EMTs alike.

Motherland Dance Group’s primary mission is to build a community on the Providence College campus that appreciates African and Caribbean culture, through social activities that engage students in issues of Africa and the African Diaspora; to actively contribute to the advancement of Africa and the African Diaspora by engaging in different forms of African, Caribbean and African American dance. We promote the development of an intellectual community within an environment that fosters respect and integrity among its members. In order to facilitate the desired environment and educational goals of the Motherland Dance Group, and to protect the rights and privileges of its members, the group leaders have adopted regulations for individuals. When an individual is suspected of violating a regulation, the leaders of the group are responsible for coordinating the disciplinary process. These procedures have been established to ensure that there is a fundamental fairness to all members involved in the dance group.

Providence Immigrant Rights Coalition is a group of students at Providence College who strive to enhance the acceptance of the immigrant population at Providence College by challenging derogatory anti-immigrant discourse, educating the campus on current and past immigration systems and policies, and raising awareness of the injustices that impact undocumented students and their families. We intend to work in solidarity with community organizations to push for crucial institutional changes at Providence College as well as in the broader Rhode Island community. PIRC actively supports the passage of the DREAM Act in its entirety, as well as the missions of other grassroots coalitions working toward the enhancement of immigrant rights.
As no human being is illegal, PIRC serves as a supportive environment where undocumented students and students affected by harsh immigration laws and rhetoric will find a safe space that relies on the development of trust. Members of our group are never compelled to self-identify and all involved act as considerate peer allies. PIRC is proud to share and draw upon its network of students, faculty, and staff who have recognized themselves as allies to undocumented students. Our allies are understanding of the circumstances that undocumented students may face and provide valuable support in the form of resources, advice, or referrals.
We strive to improve college accessibility and retention for undocumented students, and promote unity between the Providence College community, the larger Rhode Island community, and Rhode Island’s immigrant population. We propose that Providence College follow the current leadership of the Catholic Church under Pope Francis, as he has taken a compassionate stance on ongoing immigration inequities.

SHEPARD is a support group for all members of the LGBTQ+ community who choose to become involved. The name is an acronym that stands for Stopping Homophobia, Eliminating Prejudice and Restoring Dignity. The name was also chosen in part to commemorate Matthew Shepard, a student at University of Wyoming who was brutally murdered in 1998 in an event that remains one of the most discussed LGBT hate crimes in modern American History.

Members of the club represent parts of the LGBTQ+ community and people from any walk of life are welcome to take part in the events held by this club throughout the year. Events that have been held by this club include LGBTQ+ Awareness Week, Day of Silence, World AIDS Day, Trans Day of Remembrance, and many wonderful others.

In addition to providing support SHEPARD’s mission is to build a safe, welcoming environment within our club and throughout the Providence College campus. It strives to connect with students who identify in ways that have left them experiencing alienation and a lack of safety.

Student Organization - Service Organizations

Mission
Urban Action sponsors a five day program for incoming first-year students. This program is designed to increase students’ understanding of urban issues while also introducing them to the Providence community. Through UA, students spend three days volunteering at local sites in the city of Providence, and one day volunteering on campus helping fellow classmates move in. Through dedication to service and reflection, they make a difference in their new community. This is also a great opportunity to meet other students and to learn more about Providence College.

Urban Action activities conclude in time for students to fully participate in Fall Orientation. Registrations are accepted on a first come-first served basis. The program capacity is 80 students. There is no cost for participation. Students will be notified in mid-July if they are accepted into the program.

Our club allows for girls who played ice hockey in high school to continue their love for the game. The season runs from September to March. We practice at Schneider arena twice a week with one to two games a weekend. This club allows for girls to get involved in a sport and also allows for them to make thirty new friends.
